Rihanna has been a heavy force in the fashion and beauty industry and last week she previewed her Fenty luxury clothing line with LVMH in Paris which featured a stunning 67-year-old model, JoAni Johnson.
And she has been taking the model industry by storm ever since!!
JoAni Johnson is a gorgeous grey-haired Harlem native, just 5 feet 4 inches tall, who has already worked with names such as Oswald Boateng, Pyer Moss, and CDLM clothing amongst other designers. Although Johnson’s modeling career has only been a few years young , she has already been featured in Vogue, Allure, and Essence magazines etc, and last year she made her debut New York Fashion Week for the first time.
According to Elle magazine and after a video about aging so gracefully and being comfortable with her silver tresses went viral, her modeling career took off, hitting her 1st runway at the tender age of 65.
She may look like a pro in front of the camera, but Johnson didn’t start modeling until she was a semi-retired. In college, Johnson majored in art and biology before becoming a math major. After she graduated, she moved to France to study nursing but later moved back to New York where she landed a job with a denim company. Johnson wore many more hats working as a receptionist, a showroom runner, and opening her own tea blending business.
Before everything took flight, her modeling has always been a hobby to her, according to an February interview with Refinery 29.
But it was in 2016, Johnson and her late husband were taking a stroll through Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood when a photographer stopped her and asked to take her picture. Initially Johnson declined, but her husband encouraged her to let the woman snap it up. Johnson was contacted by a casting agent a few weeks later who asked if she would in a video featuring people with grey hair.
The gig turned out to be for Allure magazine.
And the rest they say is her-story!!!!
Johnson became more focused on fashion after her husband died suddenly last November.

“I tell people all the time: I do this because he loved me doing it. I know that he would have wanted me to continue.”
