Forbes has officially named Jay-Z hip-hop’s first billionaire.
Yes its official!!!!
Forbes reported that Hov is the first musician in hip-hop that has accumulated a fortune that totals $1 billion. He is also said to be one of entertainers to achieve this amazing level. Jay’s empire was built through a combination of deals including liquor (Armand de Brignac and D’Ussé), numerous cash investments, timeless art collections, real estate, the streaming services (including Tidal), his record label, and not to mention the long list of music in his catalog.
So let’s break this down Forbes style shall we?!
Jay-Z’s cash and investments = $220 million.
His stake in liquor brands D’Ussé and Armand de Brignac = $410 million.
His music streaming platform, Tidal = $100 million.
Roc Nation = $75 million.
His music catalog = $75 million.
His art collection, $70 million
And last but not least all his real estate investments = a whopping $50 million!!!!!
Jay’s story is defiantly the rags to riches story, coming from Brooklyn’s Marcy housing projects hallways where he use to sell drugs to later changing his dope boy ways for the love of music, to becoming one of the founders of Roc-A-Fella Records and releasing 14 No. 1 albums.
