Meek Mill has no plans to stop fighting for his official freedom!
As of today Meek Mill’s lawyers will put in a request to the appeals court to overturn the 2008 drug and gun conviction that has kept him on probation for a decade.
The judge who is currently over the case sent Mill to prison back in 2017 on a parole violation appears to have a serious vendetta against the Philadelphia rapper according to his lawyers and the city’s prosecutors seem to agree!
District Attorney Larry Krasner’s prosecutors have filed a joint motion to support the defense team ‘s bid to throw out the conviction and have the case retried under a new judge.
Since his recent prison release, Mill, (aka Robert Rihmeek Williams), is using his platform to speak out about criminal justice reform after Judge Genece Brinkley sentenced him to two to four years in prison for minor probation violations back in 2017.
He spent about four months in prison before being released by the courts last year.
The defense lawyer’s strategy is based on alleged credibility issues with the now-retired police officer who was the key witness against him at the nonjury trial. The officer said the then-19-year-old Mill pointed a gun at him during the arrest outside his southwest Philadelphia home.
Mill has always denied the officer’s accusations.
According to reports the rapper has always butt heads with the judge over terms of his parole, especially when it came to the unnecessary reporting requirements and travel rules that he says got in the way of his music career.
Poor Meek been on parole for like a thousand years already! Let that man free to live his best life!
