Allegedly Obama’s camp seems to think so!!
As Joe Biden continues to be the front man in the Democratic primaries, everyone on his camp doesn’t seem to be completely on board with him running. And it allegedly appears that our forever President Barack Obama may have concerns over his Vice President’s bid and may have even suggested he consider dropping out of the race.
According to a New York Times source, Obama told Biden: “You don’t have to do this, Joe, you really don’t,” in early 2019.
Insiders also told New York Times that Biden initially wanted to enter the 2016 race, but Obama advised him not to, because he trusted Hillary Clinton “had a better chance of building on his agenda.” It was also reported Obama was concerned about his buddy’s mental state following the death of his son Beau in 2015.
Before his candidacy announcement in April, Joe Biden allegedly said to Obama that “he could never forgive himself if he turned down a second shot at Mr. Trump.” Once Barack accepted Biden running for president in 2020, The Times reported he requested meetings with Biden’s top advisers, including Biden’s spokeswoman, Kate Bedingfield and former White House communications director Anita Dunn.
‘When they were done, Mr. Obama offered a pointed reminder, according to two people with knowledge of his comments: Win or lose, they needed to make sure Mr. Biden did not “embarrass himself” or “damage his legacy” during the campaign’.
And after viewing certain parts of his campaign, it’s not hard to wonder why Obama was worried about being embarrassed in the first place.
Case in point Biden has made several side eye comments throughout his campaign, most recently catching a lot of smoke for saying “poor kids are just as bright as white kids.”
As the battle for the next prez continues, Barack Obama remains publically neutral but has the bromance sizzled?!
What’s you 2 cents?!
