Behind Casanova, Pop Smoke & More Being Removed from Rolling Loud New York’s Line-Up…What Really Happened

Casanova/Don Q

And it was all done by NYPD via letter!!!!!

Law enforcement requested that festival organizers remove Sheff G, Don Q, and 22GZ due to alleged affiliations with “recent acts of violence citywide.”

NYPD’s getting some major sides eyes right now…

Several artists were scheduled to perform at the Rolling Loud music festival this past weekend at New York City’s Citi Field were suddenly removed from the lineup after the New York City Police Department sent a request via letter to festival organizers telling them to take off.

The New York Times:

Casanova, Pop Smoke, Sheff G, Don Q, and 22GZ were named in the letter, dated October 9, which saw the NYPD cite “public safety concerns” stemming from the artists’ alleged affiliations with “recent acts of violence citywide.”

Casanova

No statement from Rolling Loud yet, but Casanova and Don Q did hit their Instagram pages to tell fans they will no longer be performing at the festival. Casanova says it “unfair and unfortunate” that his legal past “continues to stigmatize me and my career as a recording artist.”

I JUST WANNA LIVE. My last felony conviction was 2007. I lost everything I ever loved and I’m STILL losing. So much so that “they” won’t allow me to perform at Rolling Loud NYC on Sunday. It’s unfair and unfortunate that my past, which I’ve dealt with legally and personally, continues to stigmatize me and my career as a recording artist. I’m at war with my past and the scars that they still leave on me everyday. I will continue to fight against biases and advocate for those facing this same issue. I’ll do what do what I plan to make it up to y’all. In the meantime, you can catch me on my Behind These Scars tour or another Rolling Loud in the future. Drop a 👊🏾 if you’re free from the system and drop a ✊🏾 on behalf of friends and family who aren’t. #BehindTheseScars ALBUM OUT NOW.

Don Q

Don Q claims in no way he has “been in any gang activities” and called him getting taken off the lineup a result of “misinformation.”

The festival’s founder Tariq Cherif has issued a statement on Twitter:

the rap festival Rolling Loud, in town this weekend, confirms they received this from the NYPD asking that certain local artists not perform.

Rolling Loud says the rappers, including Pop Smoke and Casanova, are now off the bill. Statement to come later.

“I can’t speak on this much but I want everyone to know that we are still paying all of those artists full booking fees AND sending them offers for future Rolling Louds in other cities.”

Two things…

One, all the artists that got paid still got paid…so the bag was secure.

Two, so after all the promos, using the acts as a way to sell tickets, are they trying to say not one Rolling Loud executive or NYPD law enforcement official knew this before the day of the show?!

Come on son!!!

Three, the only people that lost out were the fans!

What’s your 2 cents?!
