The woman who was the inspiration character for Jennifer Lopez in “Hustlers” is now suing the production company with claims they used her story and her likeness without her permission which ended up defaming her.
In the suit, Samantha Barbash claims when producers approached her for consent for the movie and she straight turned them down. Despite this, she alleges the movie was still produced with J Lo playing the character that was obviously based on her.
Barbash claims the character in the movie is portrayed as “using and manufacturing illegal substances in her home where she lived with her child.” She says it’s absolutely untrue and quite offensive to say the least.
Her lawsuit is for $40 million, $20 million in compensatory damages and $20 million in punitives damages. She also asking for an order to be in place for producers to turn over all copies of the movie.
Barbash is being represented by Bruno Gioffre, and she is not suing J Lo personally but is suing her production company, Nuyorican Productions.
That’s a whole lot of 1’s in the stripper world!
