Timbaland has a new outlook on life after beating an addiction to painkillers and dropping a whoping 130 pounds! Tim recently sat down with Men’s Health magazine where he spoke about beating his pill habit battle and getting his mind and body back in shape.
Timbaland on his addiction to painkillers via Men’s Health Mag:
“I had a dream that death was near. I saw myself with a white face.”
The addiction got worse in 2013, when him and his ex-wife began divorce thier proceedings. And to make things even worse, he owed the IRS millions of dollars.
Timbo says taking pills was an escape method for him:
“It put me in a great feeling of not caring, of just being free. I’m like traveling, doing shows, popping ‘em, having fun, just being ignorant.”
He can’t remember how many pills he popped on a daily, but he finally decided to kick the habit by weening himself slowly off of prescription drugs, and it was tough. He explained going through withdrawals as “one of the toughest things” he has ever experienced.
“This was the path chosen for me. God was rebuilding my character.”
Timbo credits his current girlfriend with sticking by his side and helping him finding a gym so he could begin his weight loss journey. He began his work out at Miami’s Punch Elite Fitness where he connected with a trainer who put him on a strict fitness regimen which includes boxing, a strict diet of no processed food and lots and lots of aqua.
When Timbo started his journey he weighed 350 pounds. Today, he’s more than 100 pounds lighter, and still bettering himself everyday.
“God has me under construction, which I’m still under. I don’t feel like I’m complete. I don’t want to ever feel like I’m complete, ‘cause my mind would probably go idle. God needed me to be clear so I could see what is needed, not what I want.”
