Kimbella Petitions Juelz Santana’s Early Prison Release Amid COVID-19 Pandemic

Kimbella’s petitioning for her husband to finish his sentence out on house arrest.

Inmates and prison staff have been dealing with the spread of COVID-19 while receiving minimal attention from local governments all over the United States. Some inmates are being granted early release, however famous people such as Tekashi 6ix9ine, Juelz Santana and others are also petitioning for an early release option.

Santana’s wife Kimbella Vanderhee is now stepping up with a Change.org petition to have her husband released to continue his sentencing under house arrest.

Santana was found guilty for drugs and firearm violations and sentenced to 27 months in prison.

According to Kimbella, Santana has been on lockdown for two weeks now.

Kimbella’s petition statement reads:

“He has served 13 months at FCI Petersburg and should be allowed to serve the rest of his sentence on home confinement. BOP & Honorable Judge Chesler can make this happen for Laron. He is a good husband, father, son, brother, friend and has a positive media influence as a legendary rap artist.”

Santana turned himself in to the authorities after a firearm and drugs were found in his luggage at Newark International Airport back in 2018 . Then came the charges of unlawful possession of a weapon and other drug-related offenses.

Kimbella is petitioning for Santana to serve out the rest of his sentence via house arrest. Just earlier this week, 6ix9ine was granted release due to the coronavirus’ outbreak and being in the group of people who have underlying health issues, such as asthma. Recently, New York City’s Rikers Island confirmed its first inmate died from the COVID-19.

According to TIME 273 inmates at Rikers have tested positive.

Prison reform advocates have been calling on local governments to release those with non-criminal parole violations.
