X Gon’ Give It To Ya!! DMX: I’ll Go Up Against Jay Z In A Instagram Live Battle (VIDEO)

But can X get Hov to agree is the billion dollar question…

During an interview with Noreaga and DJ Efn’s Drink Champs podcast on Wednesday (May 6), DMX named dropped Hov as a potential opponent in the digital ring for an Instagram Live battle!

Although there’s a 0 to no chance that Jay and X will even partake in Swizz Beatz and Timbaland s Verzuz series (one main reason being that Hov doesn’t have an IG account), these two have had battle run ins in the past.

Let’s take a walk down memory lane….

The then up-and-comers went bar for bar at a Bronx pool hall back in the 90’s, this started a rap beef that spanned over several decades.

X then went on becoming the first hip hop artist in history to have three albums debut at No. 1, and Hov went on to drop Hard Knock Life, which became his first album to debut at the top the charts. Jay also had a few No. 1 singles from collab with Mariah Carey’s “Heartbreaker,” wife’s Beyonce “Crazy in Love,” and Rihanna’s “Umbrella,” just to name a few before scoring No. 1 with “Empire State of Mind”, his first solo track.

Still with all the achievements these two G.OA.T.S. have done, there has always been an unspoken competition over the years. X reignited the dissing Jay at a concert in Arizona back in 2010. Years later, X cleared the air saying the beef wasn’t personal.

X via MTV’s Rap Fix:

“Like sports teams when you’re playing another team you’re not going to like them. That doesn’t mean that you want them dead, or you mean any physical harm to them, it wasn’t that type of thing. I understood and embraced what rap is/was. I didn’t like him because we battled, that’s all it was. I didn’t mean him any harm, I didn’t know him enough not to like him, but I didn’t want to be his friend.”

The rap rivals became “cordial” and eventually “earned each others friendship,” although X still didn’t consider Hov a friend at the time.

Back in 2015, Irv Gotti explains how X and Jay are naturally competitive:

“They always had friction because they battled and X, like, he hated him. Jay didn’t really give a f**k but they was always on some competitive s**t.”

It’s speculated that Hov and Jay squashed their beef back in 2016 by posing for a photo together at the New Jersey stop on Beyonce’s Formation World Tour (with DJ Khaled in between the two).

Who you got?! #TeamDMX or #TeamJayZ?!

What’s your 2 cents?!
